Does GTA 6 Have a Disc? The Physical Copy Explained

Q: Does GTA 6 have a disc?

No. The physical edition contains a download code only, so buyers can preload from November 12, 2026.

Last updated: September 23, 2026

No. The GTA 6 physical edition doesn’t include a disc. Rockstar confirmed the box contains only a download code, so buyers can preload from November 12, 2026. You still download the whole game.

What “code in a box” means for you

Disc included?	No Download code only
Storage needed	Same as digital — plan for 150–200 GB
Works on PS5 Digital Edition / Xbox Series S?	Yes
Can you resell or lend it?	The code is single-use, so resale value is limited once it’s redeemed
In stores from	November 12, 2026, to support preload
Pre-order bonus	Included if bought before November 20, 2026

Why is there no disc?

Rockstar says the code-in-box format lets physical buyers preload on November 12, like digital buyers. The game is also expected to be larger than a standard disc can easily hold, and a day-one download would be needed anyway.

Physical or digital: which should you buy?

Buy physical if a retailer offers a discount, or you want a boxed copy on your shelf.
Buy digital if you want the free month of GTA+ (digital pre-orders only) and the simplest preload.

Make sure the code matches your account region. A code bought in another country may not redeem on your account.
